Independence Day: Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Capricorn

Happy Birthday, America! The universe has gifted us with a full moon lunar eclipse in Capricorn at 13º. Thirteen is the number of the Divine Feminine (Cancer and Capricorn are feminine signs), the Death card in Tarot, which signifies endings. Also, when the U.S. was founded we had just 13 original colonies.

It’s fitting that we would end this two year cycle of Cancer/Capricorn eclipses that started back in 2018, on our nation’s birthday. These eclipses have been important to our country as a whole, because Cancer is our nation’s natal sign (aka sun sign). Cancer is all about our home and private life, this nurturing water sign is represented by the moon, which governs our emotions, and how we care for others.

This is what we should be doing for the people of our nation but opposite Cancer in the natal chart is career climbing Capricorn. This is your public persona and your work life, and as an earth sign, Capricorn is all about the Capri-COIN! Cha-ching!

Think Amazon CEO and Capricorn, Jeffe (that was a typo, but it works!) Bezos and that might clue you in on their—as well as our country’s love for money. Or “The 10 dollar, Founding Father without a Father,” and first Secretary Treasurer, Alexander Hamilton was a Capricorn, as well as Lin-Manuel Miranda— who is making so much money right now as the creator of the Broadway hit show Hamilton that just got released on Disney+! Our country has become a money making machine and has forgotten the essence of our intuitive and caring Cancer sun and the Divine Feminine.

Side note: this is also called the Buck moon. I know it’s because we start seeing the first signs of deer getting their antlers, but the money references are endless!

A quick rewind to when we felt the initial start of the eclipse cycle. It began with a hefty solar eclipse in Capricorn in December 2019. With many scandalous events that have plagued our nation, it’s hard to recall what was going on at that time. So let me be the bearer of bad news and remind you that this was when the House initiated the Articles of Impeachment. This peek behind the curtain of our government, again reinforced the message that this country is no longer a Republic but an Oligarchy veering out of control. Many of us have known for a long time that our country is in serious need of reboot, and the cycle of Cancer/Capricorn eclipses has bolstered the need for change.

Yet, what of the lunar eclipse for us normies, say ye? Will it be a star-spangled extravaganza or an eye-opening disaster? The lunar eclipse is a check in on if you’ve been mastering the challenge of Adulting. If you’ve been working on a project or focusing on yourself and healing routine, you could have a great pay-off coming with this eclipse, especially if you have strong Capricorn placements, yeah I’m looking at you Lin-Manuel! However, if you’ve strayed from the correct path the eclipse could potentially be the shake up to wake up! and face the music. Not to worry though, like the classic song, It’s Never Too Late For Now— sung by Liz Lemon’s work buddies at 30 Rock, perhaps it’s time to dust off the old Pat Benatar headband and take those key-tar lessons you’ve been putting off for 30 years!

Most importantly as we celebrate this nation’s birthday, please be mindful of how you gather as we are still fighting the COVID virus and the virus of injustice. We’ve lost entirely too many people this year from both, and it will continue if we don’t take steps to remedy these tragic issues. Today is an opportunity to reflect on our behavior as individuals and as a nation, it’s a chance to grow and to take responsibility for our actions.
