Mars Enters Aries: The Return of the Warrior

The impulsivity of Aries and the driving force of Mars can make us act “pampered and spoiled like a Siamese cat!” Julie Dawn Cole plays the bratty and arrogant Veruca Salt in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, 1971

The red warrior planet—Mars, has returned home from its frustratingly cold time in Pisces. It’s journey through that watery and emotional sign may be the reason Mars will be spending an extra amount of time at home (7 months! as opposed to 6-8 weeks) to dry out and get fired up. In bold Aries, Mars rules!!! —and he can be his fiery self, powerful and focused. It’s like the strong determination of Tony Stark making his first Iron Man suit, and blasting his way out of a war zone. His passion and ambition makes him a leader and popular with the ladies, but this can also lead to an impulsive cockiness ready to fight a God or a Super Soldier at the drop of a hat.

On the upside, we may feel more focused and energetic to continue the push towards justice that was ignited during Gemini season and the first eclipse. Mars in Aries is fuel and may have us so organized we finish projects in half the time. We could also be more passionate in the bedroom as Mars rules our sex drive. With Venus now direct and Mercury retrograde, you might have a conversation with an old flame and perhaps rekindle the magic.

However, Mars in Aries has a short fuse and we could find ourselves quick to anger or being arrogant and selfish. Think Veruca Salt from Willy Wonka, appropriately dressed in red, the color of the Martian planet. Her arrogance and demands of “Don’t care how, I want it now!” quickly become her downfall, quite literally as she falls down a garbage chute to possible incineration!!!

Also, as we have all been cooped up inside trying to flatten the curve of COVID-19, many people are already feeling that impulsivity, throwing caution to the wind, and spending time in close proximity to each other which is leading us to another shutdown. We may also see more immature and reckless behavior by the police or military because even though they are supposed to protect and serve they are ruled by aggressive Mars.

With five planets still heavily into their retrogrades, harness the power of the warrior to initiate change. Organize a protest, sign petitions or help clean up your local beach or park. Doing something positive will not only benefit yourself but will boost the confidence in others to be the change we desperately need to create a better and more inclusive society for all.
